Roleplaying and Request Clarifications

Post by BlerdLife » Tue Mar 07, 2017 7:24 am

This is a little bit different from rules clarifications but I'm not sure if it goes there or here. But!

1. If we want to have a social position and we have support for that social position, what's the next step of advancing towards it? Re: You're a Carthian and all of the other Carthians are fine with you being Speaker or such.

2. Are we allowed to use the results of PRPs in political maneuvering, positively or negatively, with other PCs? In fact, are we allowed to even negatively politically maneuver against other PCs?

3. Are there any expectations for PCs with status 3+ (You have to have been around X amount of time, you have to have taken a student, you have to etc) or is it just when you think you can? Can you spend XP on this merit to have it qualify for sanctity of merits?

1. Depends on the position. Player characters at this time can't take positions of group leadership. This is because we've had a bad history of players getting named as say Changeling Monarch and then disappearing for real life reasons. Real life happens of course but having leadership as NPCs keeps them more stable. Lower level leadership and other named positions are eligible for player characters though (except Ambassador notably for 5.0). The next step is getting it recognized at a broader setting if it's broader than say an in-covenant position ie if your character has been named Seeker or Advocate that's a Court position so it will have to be recognized at court. Otherwise congrats! Let us know via request.

2. Yes and yes. The caveat with the second question is that you should check with the other player first. The other player may not be interested in PvP and we should all respect that.

3. Not officially except that if you go missing for long enough to auto desanction we can replace your character with an NPC. And you'll lose the status obviously, likely dropping down to 1 regardless of how high you'd gotten. You can't purchase Status above 3. Sanctity of merits would apply if you purchased Status that got pulled ie if you purchased City Status 2 and got up to 4, went missing for 3 months you'd be dropped down to 1 and get 1xp refunded.

Actually this post reminded me of a thing that I was wanting to write anyway so stay tuned for a Status guide.

I really do encourage players to try to build up their status via RP, even PRPs and stuff. There's one character who jumped from Status 1 to 3 (the player purchased 2 of course) purely through self directed RP. They found a need, filled it and for their efforts were given an entirely new and fancy title that didn't even exist before. Keep us informed, send letters and emails to your in group leadership since they're the ones who will be officially granting status.
